Recent news articles about the Finnish gamedev company Unreal Voodoo are really making me sad.

For those who do not know, Frets on Fire is a clone of Guitar Hero, but its for PC, and you use the F1-5 keys to rock out.

Except nobody, (including me) grasped the reality that has become known as

COPYRIGHTOMGINFRINGEMENT: n. When one stuck-up company decides to take out smaller bait with ludicrous remarks and heinous accusation.

See, if you go out onto Piratebay, isohunt, or whereever you get your torrents and look up “FoF”, you’re gonna get ownt with packs of songs that Activision calls their own.

WRONG.

If Activision sez that they own the songs that are WRITTEN PLAYED AND RECORDED by the band/artist, wouldnt one get entirely ownt with COPYRIGHTOMGINFRINGEMENT all the same?

There are many things that don’t make sense in the world.

Can’t genuinely awesome video game clones be an exception?

10 Reasons why Second Life beats WoW anyday February 15, 2008

There are few who disagree with me when I say I love to play Second Life.
For those who do not know, Second Life (me and Debian call it Sexond Life) is an mmo ran entirely and created by its players. “Residents” can build and script anything they can imagine using the built-in-world editor, and sell it in Second Life’s own fluid economy, the Second Life Exchange, or SLX.
The limits are literally endless, mainly for the fact that it is run openly to the public.
Annddd then there’s World Of Warcraft.
You all know what I’m talking about.
The fact that everyone has OMFGLVL70 ROGUES
is pointless. Last time I checked, there is no fun in posting character sheets,
raiding servers,
looking for groups.
I would honestly rather sit in a chair, drink a cup of hot coffee, and catch up with friends across the country. Hell, even the world.
That is what I mean by endless.
So here’s a list of reasons why Second Life is better than WoW.
1. Open-ended virtual reality
Can you build your own world in WoW? Uhm, NO.
2. Not everyone is a 43 yr. old guy
Yea, you got some 24 year olds too…FEMALES
I know its hard to grasp the reality of getting some action, but please. Try.
3. You can get PAID for what you build!
What you build or resell can get you some big-boy bucks, really easily with SLX.
4. Less Crowded
There are actually places where you can be by yourself and do your own thing. A lot of players really like that, since WoW you’re practically bombarded with freaking noobs all the time.
5. Second Life doesnt get blocked.
Ever been on WoW at school? Yea, you get pwnt.
You can get on all the Second Life websites and/or client at school.
6. Its funny.
There are a lot of people who take WoW way too seriously.
Second Life is basically just a gigantic international party.
My friends who play are always messing around.
7. You can buy land for extremely cheap.
I’m right now in the process for buying land. MY OWN LAND.
No more “oh lol private server” crap. This turf is mine. I can do whatever I want with it too.
8. Juan plays WoW.
YUH
9. Cage gun ftw!
You could seriously kill 10 hours caging people in sandboxes. There is nothing like it. Just pure ecstasy.
10. Noobs dont last
Most noobs who decide to grief/blitz veteran residents are immediately reported. There is no tolerance for griefers…. unless you’ve been around the block AND/OR pretend to own the land. Ha.
SO there you have it. 10 Reasons why Second Life > WoW.
Let the controversy begin!
